At a ceremony in Abuja, NNPC Ltd., through its Research, Technology, and Innovation (RTI) subsidiary, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) to advance technology-driven solutions in Nigeria's oil and gas sector.
The partnership will focus on research, innovation, skills development, and commercialisation of industry solutions, with initiatives ranging from refinery catalyst and biofuel production to oil and gas drilling technologies and geological mapping.

According to NNPC's EVP of Business Services, Sophia Mbakwe, the agreement unites both organisations' strengths to boost local content and nurture the next generation of energy professionals.
PTDF's Executive Secretary, Ahmed Galadima Aminu, said the deal leverages both PTDF's research infrastructure and NNPC RTI's laboratories to create a robust platform for testing, validation, and deployment of breakthrough technologies.
The MoU also covers joint R&D, technical support, knowledge sharing, innovation hubs, and capacity building—a move seen as pivotal for the sector's long-term competitiveness.
