The Federal Government has launched the Women in Export Development Initiative (WEIDE) to empower 10,000 women-owned export-ready businesses by 2030 and help 3,000 women-led SMEs access international markets by 2027.
First Lady Senator Remi Tinubu, represented by Hajiya Nana Shettima, described the programme as a movement to put Nigerian women entrepreneurs on the global trade stage. Spearheaded by the WTO, ITC, NEPC, and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, WEIDE will provide grassroots export training, digital trade skills, and access to platforms like AfCFTA and SheTrades.
