SMEs in agriculture are set to benefit as Niger State Governor Umar Bago donated 100,000 hectares of land to Lagos State for farming and agribusiness development.
The initiative, unveiled at the FirstBank Agric & Export Expo 2025, will create new opportunities in crop cultivation, livestock production, and value-added processing for small businesses.
Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu urged the private sector to partner with government in expanding food production and exports, while Niger will serve as the production hub.

The state is targeting high-demand products such as yams, beans, and livestock with strong export potential, including the Middle East market.
FirstBank reaffirmed its support for SMEs in agribusiness financing, noting that food security and non-oil exports are now at the heart of Nigeria's economic diversification.
The project opens doors for small businesses in farming, processing, logistics, and export to scale up and tap into regional and global markets.
