The Ministry of Solid Minerals Development is rolling out new strategies to make the sector a key driver of economic diversification, job creation, and national growth.
Speaking at the 2025 Ministerial Retreat in Abuja, Minister Dr. Dele Alake declared an end to "business as usual," urging full exploitation of Nigeria's vast mineral resources.
Achievements so far include ₦1 trillion allocated for mineral exploration, the launch of Mining Marshals to combat illegal mining, and doubling of mining revenues — licenses rose from ₦6bn in 2023 to ₦12.58bn in 2024, while royalties hit ₦36.8bn. Over 300 artisanal cooperatives have been formalized.
