Nigeria's non-oil exports surged to $3.225 billion in the first half of 2025, marking a 19.59% rise from $2.696 billion in the same period of 2024, according to the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC). Export volumes also grew to 4.04 million metric tonnes, up from 3.83 million metric tonnes last year.
Executive Director/CEO of NEPC, Nonye Ayeni, said the growth was driven by stronger demand for key commodities like cocoa, sesame, cashew, and aluminium, alongside a shift towards semi-processed and manufactured products.
The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) also opened wider markets, while NEPC initiatives on quality standards, packaging, and export documentation boosted competitiveness.
