The Lagos State Government has empowered 1,000 residents with ₦460 million through its Eko Cares Programme, aimed at supporting small businesses, startups, and vulnerable groups across the state. Beneficiaries received cheques ranging from ₦300,000 to ₦1.5 million to support ventures, education, healthcare, rent, and people with disabilities.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, said the initiative demonstrates the essence of inclusive governance by providing hope and opportunities for residents to become self-reliant. He urged beneficiaries to use the funds productively, describing the support as "a seed of hope" meant to ignite business growth and household stability.

Since its inception in 2020, Eko Cares has provided financial relief and start-up support to thousands of Lagosians, helping MSMEs recover and scale.
The initiative continues to strengthen the state's economic fabric by reducing poverty, fostering inclusion, and encouraging entrepreneurship. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the government, pledging to channel the funds into productive use that sustains business growth and community development.
