Nigeria opened the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Forum 2025 by welcoming global partners and young leaders, using the platform to spotlight youth as a key engine of SME and MSME growth. The country positioned its vibrant, creative population as central to driving innovation, enterprise development, and new economic opportunities.
In his address, the representative outlined major government programmes designed to boost youth participation in entrepreneurship and the digital economy. Initiatives such as the Nigerian Youth Academy, NiYA StartUp, YouthCred, InnovateNaija, SUPA, 3MTT, and Digital Literacy for All are equipping young Nigerians with the skills, funding pathways, and enterprise support needed to create and scale MSMEs.

Nigeria also underscored the role of global partnerships with organisations like UNDP, the European Union, Generation Unlimited, UAE Digital School, GITEX Global, and Solana Africa. These collaborations are expanding pipelines for youth-led businesses, improving access to digital tools, and strengthening the ecosystem for emerging startups and informal-sector entrepreneurs.
The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award was recognised as a strong complement to Nigeria's youth–MSME agenda, promoting values that strengthen enterprise readiness—skills, leadership, teamwork, resilience, and community service. Nigeria encouraged global partners to deepen investment in programmes that open market opportunities, bridge digital gaps, and build a generation of young entrepreneurs equipped to compete globally.
