Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) has launched a Women Employment and Empowerment Scheme to provide business support to 2,000 women across 215 communities along the Eastern Corridor of the Trans Niger Pipeline. Implemented in partnership with Premium Trust Bank, the initiative forms part of PINL's corporate social responsibility efforts to strengthen livelihoods in Rivers, Bayelsa, Abia, and Imo States.
Under the scheme, four women from each community will receive business grants, mentorship, and financial literacy training to expand their small-scale enterprises. The grants will be paid directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts, with progress monitored by professionals to ensure effective utilization and growth.

Speaking at a data-capturing session in Port Harcourt, Dr. Akpos Mezeh, General Manager of Community Relations at PINL, highlighted the critical role women play in supporting pipeline security and combating vandalism. "The women have supported us by providing viable information with which we wage this war against crude theft," he said.
Beneficiaries expressed optimism about the program's potential impact. Many plan to expand their businesses, increase household income, and improve their communities. With its annual structure and integrated mentorship, PINL's initiative aims to strengthen small businesses, foster local enterprise growth, and deepen collaboration between communities and energy infrastructure operators.
