The Federal Government has placed security agencies across the country on high alert following recent attacks in parts of the North. The directive, issued by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aims to strengthen surveillance, prevent further violence, and protect citizens as well as local businesses.
The government said the heightened alert became necessary after reports of renewed banditry and insurgent activities that have disrupted communities and economic activities. Security formations have been instructed to intensify patrols, increase intelligence gathering, and respond swiftly to emerging threats.
According to the Presidency, the move is not only to safeguard lives but also to ensure stability for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are often the most affected during periods of insecurity. Officials noted that business owners, traders, farmers, and transport operators depend heavily on a safe environment to operate.

Security agencies have also been urged to collaborate more closely with state governments, community leaders, and vigilante groups to ensure early detection of threats. The government added that protecting economic activities—especially at the grassroots level—remains central to its national security agenda.
Authorities assured Nigerians that efforts are ongoing to restore calm in affected areas, while calling on citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
