The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Steel Development, has intensified collaboration with development partners and international donor agencies to revitalize Nigeria's steel sector. This strategic move aims to drive economic diversification, job creation, and industrial growth.
Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shaiubu Abubakar Audu, emphasized the role of development partners in modernizing steel assets, improving infrastructure, and advancing workforce skills. He highlighted that the collaboration would bridge implementation gaps, reduce import reliance, and position Nigeria as an industrial leader in Africa.
The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Chris Osa Isokpunwu, stressed the need for committed partners to address sectoral challenges and ensure long-term prosperity.
Australian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Leilani Bin-Juda, expressed Australia's support, recognizing steel as vital for economic sustainability. Representatives from UNDP and UNIDO also reaffirmed their commitment to fostering investment and development in the sector.
This partnership is expected to transform Nigeria's steel industry, fostering local innovation and industrial self-sufficiency.
