The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) is set to launch Waste Marketplace Nigeria, a digital platform for waste transactions, in partnership with Recyclestack.
The initiative supports the implementation of Circular Economy practices through the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programme.
According to NESREA Director-General, Prof. Innocent Barikor, the platform aims to digitize Nigeria's waste economy, drive environmental compliance, and empower the informal sector.
"It will foster accountability, boost recycling rates, and serve as a vital tool for regulation and data mining," he said.

The platform is expected to onboard at least 10,000 verified users within its first four months, with initial rollout in Lagos and Abuja, before expanding to other cities.
Barikor emphasized that the initiative will create inclusive green jobs, reduce illegal dumping, and attract investment positioning Nigeria as a model for digitalcircular economy in Africa.
