President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated the 180MW Afam II Power Plant in Rivers State, completed in 16 months by Sahara Power Group and Crescendough Nigeria Ltd.
The project, driven by local expertise, is expected to energize over 50 million homes, businesses, and industries, adding significant capacity to Nigeria's national grid.
Virtually commissioning the plant, Tinubu hailed it as a symbol of Nigerian innovation and private-sector collaboration. He praised the Rivers State government and private partners for transforming a bold vision into reality.
Sahara Power's GMD, Kola Adesina, described the milestone as more than power generation calling it a catalyst for jobs, industrial growth, and long-term sustainability.
With expansion plans in thermal, distribution, and renewable energy, Sahara Power aims to anchor Nigeria's global competitiveness through reliable, home-grown energy solutions.
