In a bold move to reposition agriculture as a viable economic driver, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has flagged off the distribution of farm inputs for a 300-hectare cluster farming pilot at Gani-Gaku in Demsa LGA.
The agribusiness-focused initiative targets six LGAs in its initial phase—Demsa, Ganye, Hong, Maiha, Madagali, and Michika—with each receiving 300 hectares, subdivided into one-hectare plots for selected farmers.
Governor Fintiri said the initiative is part of a broader strategy to combat food insecurity and empower smallholder farmers by promoting best practices in agriculture.
"We are incentivizing farmers through improved seeds, land preparation, and a cluster-based model that makes agribusiness attractive and sustainable," he stated.

The distributed inputs include fertilizers, herbicides, and certified seeds aimed at boosting productivity and ensuring food sufficiency.
Commissioner for Agriculture, Prof. David Jatau, highlighted the program's potential to drive shared agribusiness infrastructure, improve access to extension services, and link producers to structured markets.
The pilot also aligns with recommendations from the State Food Security Committee to make agriculture more appealing to youth and new investors.
Beneficiaries praised the government for the initiative, pledging to scale their production and contribute to the state's green economy agenda.
