The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has announced that at least 21,000 Nigerians will benefit from the second phase of the Renewed Hope Job Creation Programme, which will be fully digital.
Speaking during a strategy session in Abuja with state and zonal directors, NDE Director-General Silas Agara said the new phase is designed to resolve previous issues—particularly delays in stipends—and to better reflect local realities by aligning skills training with each state's economic needs.
Agara noted that Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and development partners will provide both training and funding support. He explained that while 21,000 is the minimum target, the number could increase depending on how well states utilize their allocated resources.

He revealed that banks and partners have shown interest in directly engaging with trained participants to assess and support their business plans based on individual needs and capabilities.
The first phase of the initiative, launched in December 2024, aimed at empowering over 93,000 unemployed Nigerians through vocational training in 30 different skill areas. Special focus was given to women, people with disabilities, and older individuals, with at least 40,000 trained in ICT and digital skills. Every one of Nigeria's 8,809 electoral wards had at least 10 participants.
The NDE says this second phase builds on those gains and aims to create more targeted, sustainable employment opportunities.
