Over 1,000 young people in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, took part in a one-day intensive training programme aimed at building their career and business development skills. The event, themed "Your Career Compass: Gain Clarity in Work and Business," focused on enhancing youth employment and entrepreneurship in the region.
The participants, aged between 18 and 35, included nursing mothers, young women, and persons with disabilities—who made up around 75% of attendees. The programme was designed to help young people pursue opportunities in sectors like agriculture, hospitality, and other informal businesses.
The training featured sessions on CV writing, interview techniques, entrepreneurial thinking, and business model development. These activities were intended to empower attendees with practical tools to make informed career and business decisions.

Keynote speaker Mrs. Juliana Omale encouraged participants to adopt a mindset focused on growth and value creation. "Clarity means more than knowing what you want," she said. "It's about placing yourself where opportunity exists—whether through skills, business ideas, or how you present yourself."
Participants shared positive feedback. Hadiza Khalil, a nursing mother, said the training gave her the confidence to grow her business independently. Adamuji Joseph, a graduate with a disability, said the event renewed his belief in his ability to succeed, either through employment or business. Alhassam Musa, a recent graduate, and Miss Asete Ajayi, a secondary school leaver, also spoke about how the experience broadened their outlook and inspired entrepreneurial goals.
Breakout sessions were held on interview readiness and entrepreneurship, with participants receiving one-on-one CV reviews and personalised guidance. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to equip Nigerian youth with the skills and confidence to succeed in today's job market and create their own economic opportunities.
