The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has encouraged its female corps members to focus on self-reliance and entrepreneurship as a pathway to financial independence and national development.
This call was made by NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, during a three-day entrepreneurial training held at the FCT Centre in Abuja. The programme, which targeted 5,000 female corps members, was organised in collaboration with the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) of Pan-African University, Lagos, and funded by the Mastercard Foundation.
Nafiu urged participants to apply the knowledge gained to start their own businesses and reduce graduate unemployment in Nigeria. He highlighted the importance of embracing collaboration, vision, and resilience in their entrepreneurial journeys.
"This is your opportunity to break free from dependence and shape the future," he said. "Team up, build your ideas, and explore the many sectors open to new entrepreneurs."
