The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has empowered 58,933 corps members with digital skills in the past two years, strengthening its entrepreneurship drive for Nigerian youths.
NYSC Director General, Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Nafiu, revealed this at a Federal Ministry of Youth Development retreat in Abuja, noting that the scheme has leveraged strong partnerships with banks, private organizations, and foundations to expand its Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.
According to him, over 385,000 corps members have benefitted from mentorship, internship, and career development, while 1,118 corps members received financial support to start businesses.

The scheme also posted more than 574,000 corps members to schools and 38,000 to health facilities, boosting education and rural healthcare delivery. In addition, 49,839 Nigerians benefitted from free medical outreaches under the NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers.
Nafiu said these achievements align with the Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing NYSC's commitment to youth empowerment, employability, and economic growth.
Meanwhile, Youth Development Minister Ayodele Olawande disclosed that the Ministry surpassed its digital training target, equipping 15,509 youths with ICT skills against a 10,000 target.
