The Jordanian government has secured a €1.65 million grant from Italy to launch a rural development project aimed at enhancing food security and empowering small-scale farmers.
Announced by Agriculture Minister Khaled Hneifat, the initiative titled "Food Security and Inclusive Economic Growth through Sustainable Rural Products and Efficient Use of Local Resources" will target rural communities with tools for resilience and sustainable agriculture.
The project will provide technical support, capacity-building in modern farming, and business training.

It also includes the introduction of cold storage, farming machinery, and waste treatment facilities, while promoting small-scale food processing to empower rural women and expand market access.
Aligned with Jordan's Sustainable Agriculture Plan and National Food Security Strategy (2021–2030), the initiative reinforces the country's Economic Modernization Vision and climate goals.
