Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the creation of a dedicated Industrial Hub Management Unit to accelerate small business growth, boost trade, and attract fresh investments into the state.
The Industrial Hub, located in Maiduguri, is a multi-purpose facility designed to drive local manufacturing and processing. It currently houses production plants for solar panels, waste recycling, and food processing — including tomato, cassava, ginger, and onion — as well as manufacturing lines for corn chips, biscuits, and school furniture.

According to the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani, the new unit will streamline operations, improve efficiency, and position the hub as a centre for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the region.
Governor Zulum has appointed Engr. Bukar Kolomi, his Senior Technical Assistant, as the Industrial Hub Manager. Kolomi brings technical expertise and administrative experience to ensure smooth operations and sustainable expansion.
Operating under the Ministry of Trade, Investment, and Tourism, the management unit is expected to create jobs, boost local production, and make Borno a competitive destination for industrial and SME investment in Nigeria's northeast.
