In a joint effort to uplift small-scale women entrepreneurs, Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and Anambra State First Lady, Dr. Nonye Soludo, have empowered 1,000 indigent women in Anambra with N50,000 each to boost their businesses.
The initiative, flagged off under the Renewed Hope Initiative in collaboration with the Tony Elumelu Foundation, aims to support grassroots women with capital to grow their enterprises.
While Senator Tinubu provided funds for 500 women under the federal programme, Dr. Soludo added an extra 500 beneficiaries from Anambra State. The disbursement, held at the Government House in Awka, also included an additional N7,000 transport stipend for each beneficiary to ensure the business capital remains untouched.

Dr. Soludo emphasized the importance of investing the money strictly into business, stating, "This is not for a new pot of soup. Let it grow your trade."
One inspiring story shared was of a woman who expanded from selling pap to bean cake, now able to feed her family comfortably.
The beneficiaries were carefully selected from communities across the state, targeting the most vulnerable women.
