Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has welcomed the nomination of Lagos as Nigeria's host city for the 2027 Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF), a continental event designed to deepen intra-African trade and boost the AfCFTA.
The announcement was made by Afreximbank, the African Union, and the AfCFTA Secretariat at the ongoing IATF 2025 in Algiers. Lagos' selection marks a major milestone for Nigeria and the West African sub-region, reinforcing its role as Africa's commercial nerve centre.
Sanwo-Olu described the choice as recognition of Lagos' resilience and economic strength, noting that hosting IATF aligns with the state's ambition to become a global financial hub. "This will boost our efforts in positioning Lagos among leading global cities," he said.
