The Renewed Hope Initiative has rolled out the Flow with Confidence sanitary pad distribution scheme alongside a food outreach programme for vulnerable households in Borno State. The initiative combines immediate relief with long-term empowerment to tackle pressing community needs.
The sanitary pad project targets schoolgirls, providing them with menstrual hygiene support and improving sanitation facilities to reduce absenteeism. Organisers said the goal is to keep girls in school, promote confidence, and ensure they are not held back by lack of access to basic sanitary products.
Speaking at the launch, Nana Kashim Shettima, wife of the Vice President and Vice Chairperson of the Initiative, emphasised the Federal Government's commitment to addressing both urgent needs and structural challenges faced by women and children. She praised the Borno State Government for its partnership.

Shettima explained that menstrual hygiene support has wider educational benefits. By reducing absenteeism linked to menstrual challenges, the scheme helps young girls stay engaged in their studies and empowers them to reach their full potential.
Beneficiaries welcomed the intervention, citing the relief it brings amid economic hardship. The Renewed Hope Initiative said similar programmes will continue across the country to reduce poverty and expand opportunities for women and youth.
