The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its plan to strengthen the local printing industry as part of its wider support for MSMEs in the creative and manufacturing sectors. This was revealed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, at a seminar organised by the Printing, Publishing and Allied Group of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in Victoria Island.
Omotoso described the printing sector as a vital source of jobs and enterprise for small businesses, noting that the government is creating policies to help local printers adopt digital tools, improve production capacity, and access new markets. He stated that MSMEs remain key to the state's economic transformation agenda.

LCCI President, Mr Gabriel Idahosa, urged for stronger support systems to boost innovation and workforce training across the printing value chain. He emphasised that inclusive policies would help MSMEs expand operations, drive productivity, and enhance sustainability within the industry.
Stakeholders also called for reforms to ease access to finance, revise tariffs on imported raw materials, and promote a "Nigeria First" printing policy. They agreed that collaboration between government, financiers, and MSMEs is essential to unlock growth and position the local printing industry as a strong contributor to Nigeria's creative economy.
