Titled "Who Owns It? Rethinking Intellectual Property in Nigeria's Creative and Cultural Economy," the session examined the gaps that leave many creators — especially in music, film, fashion, art, design, and tech — exposed despite the industry's rapid growth. Read also: Moody highlighted that limited IP awareness continues to weaken creators' control over their work, reduce potential earnings, and enable widespread unauthorized use. According to her, the absence of strong protection mechanisms also affects global competitiveness and limits opportunities for licensing and long-term revenue. The conversation underscored ongoing concerns that Nigeria's creative economy cannot fully scale until creators understand their rights and the systems supporting IP enforcement are strengthened. | | | |
