Nigeria's Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, has spotlighted the potential of electric vehicles (EVs) to transform the country's transport and logistics sectors.
Speaking during a visit to SAGLEV, an EV assembly firm in Imota, Lagos, Oduwole said EV adoption can boost innovation, energy efficiency, and economic growth. She noted that President Tinubu's "Nigeria First" policy is creating a favourable environment for local investors and small manufacturers.
The minister commended SAGLEV's efforts, saying, "This progress stems from years of planning, training, and collaboration."

She pledged to tackle import bottlenecks and highlighted customs reforms like automation as key steps to improving trade ease.
SAGLEV CEO, Dr. Gbenga Faleye, revealed the plant can produce 2,500 EVs annually, employing only local residents. He urged more government support for raw material imports and public sector patronage.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce and the Director-General of the National Automotive Council both assured support, adding that EV standards and training will further boost SME participation in the sector.
