Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on international partners to support Nigeria's efforts in rebuilding sustainable food systems, emphasizing that food sovereignty is essential to national sovereignty and economic stability.
Speaking at the UN Food Systems Summit +4 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Shettima outlined President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's comprehensive national strategy, which includes a state of emergency on food security and systemic reforms aimed at revitalizing agriculture.'
The plan focuses on transforming the sector into a resilient, youth-driven, and market-based engine of growth — a move expected to benefit agro-based small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across Nigeria and Africa.
