A new dairy milk collection centre in Zawi Grazing Reserve, Adamami, Shira LGA, has commenced production of 2,000 litres per day, aiming to bridge Nigeria's milk supply gap and boost local agribusiness opportunities.
The facility, established by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and operated by L&Z Integrated Farms, is part of government efforts to reduce $1.5 billion in annual milk imports through backward integration and import substitution policies.
CEO Alh. Mohammadu Abubakar highlighted the potential for Nigeria's 22 million cows to meet domestic demand if aggregation and collection systems are expanded.
Shira LGA Chairman Babangida Maliya pledged rural support and security to protect the centre, urging pastoralists to supply milk while improving livelihoods and prioritizing education for local children.
