The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, has called on Nigerian manufacturers to adopt cutting-edge technology, innovation, and strong partnerships to boost productivity and reduce overreliance on imported raw materials.
Speaking at the 2025 NME/NIRAM Expo in Lagos, themed "Accelerating Sustainable Manufacturing Through Cutting-Edge Equipment and Technology Solutions," Nnaji stressed that embracing local tech and value addition is critical for job creation and economic growth.
"To reposition Nigeria as an industrial powerhouse, we must cut foreign raw material imports by 60% within five years and increase local resource utilization," he said.
President of MAN echoed this, urging industry players to challenge the status quo and harness innovation to thrive locally and globally.
Commissioner of Trade, Folashade, emphasized that the expo signals a turning point for Nigeria's manufacturing sector, noting that "this is not policy tinkering; it's fiscal affirmation."
The DG of MAN, Segun Ajayi-Kadir, added that embracing sustainability and innovation will empower entrepreneurs and strengthen Nigeria's industrial future.
