The Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport has received approval from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to commence commercial flight operations effective October 4, 2025.
This follows the expiration of its earlier non-scheduled flight approval in December 2024 and subsequent compliance with NCAA regulatory requirements.
In a letter dated October 3, 2025, the NCAA confirmed that the airport met key operational standards during a validation inspection conducted between June 16 and 19, 2025. The interim operational permit, valid for six months, allows daylight (sunrise to sunset) flight operations pending full certification.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji described the approval as a major economic boost for the state, noting that commercial operations would enhance agribusiness, tourism, and medical travel while positioning Ekiti as an investment destination.
The state government also disclosed ongoing installation of an Instrument Landing System (ILS) to enable night and all-weather operations.
Governor Oyebanji expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his support, former Governor Kayode Fayemi for initiating the project, and Aare Afe Babalola (SAN) for his notable contributions.
