The Katsina State Government has inaugurated two key committees to implement the Community Development Programme in line with the financial autonomy recently granted to local governments. The move is designed to strengthen grassroots governance and ensure projects directly reflect the needs of citizens.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda will chair the Programme Steering Committee made up of Commissioners, Special Advisers, the ALGON Chairman, and the Programme Coordinator as Secretary. The committee will provide strategic direction, monitor progress, and integrate community priorities into government budgets and policies.
A Joint Planning Committee was also inaugurated under the chairmanship of the Deputy Governor, Malam Faruq Lawal Jobe. Its members include Local Government Chairmen, ALGON, Councillors Forum, and representatives of key Ministries. This body will focus on planning and executing projects that align with grassroots needs.

Both committees have been directed to commence work immediately using documented project outlines as a guide for budget preparation and implementation. The government said the framework will harmonise state and local efforts while promoting accountability in the use of resources.
Governor Radda described the initiative as a new chapter in community-driven governance. He commended committee members for accepting the responsibility and expressed confidence in their commitment to deliver inclusive development for the people of Katsina State.
