The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has restated its commitment to transparency and digital inclusion as Nigeria joined the world to mark International Freedom of Information Day.
Represented by Mr. Sarafa Lawal, Director of Human Resources and Administration, NITDA's DG Kashifu Inuwa described access to information as a fundamental right and key driver of democracy, accountability, and sustainable development.
This year's theme, "Ensuring Access to Environmental Information in the Digital Age," was highlighted as crucial for tackling climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss. Inuwa stressed that timely and reliable data strengthens policies, empowers citizens, and helps businesses, including SMEs, build resilience.
