The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has launched the Flow With Confidence program, a major menstrual health initiative designed to empower schoolgirls, boost confidence, and promote improved menstrual hygiene.
The program, unveiled simultaneously in Borno, Ekiti, Enugu, Gombe, Imo, Kebbi, and Lagos states, will provide a one-year supply of disposable sanitary pads to 370,000 girls—most of them from rural communities with limited access to hygienic care. Each state will have 10,000 beneficiaries.
Speaking at the official launch in Maiduguri, where she was represented by the Wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, the First Lady stressed that no girl should miss school or compromise her dignity because of lack of access to sanitary pads. "Do not allow shame or stigma to affect your confidence. You are future leaders, and you must pursue your dreams boldly," she urged.
Senator Tinubu emphasized that many young girls resort to unsafe and unhygienic alternatives during menstruation. The Flow With Confidence program, she explained, seeks to change that by offering a safe and sustainable solution. She also called on private sector partners, faith leaders, and community stakeholders to ensure transparent distribution and to support the program's long-term impact.
